You Are God’s Handpicked Masterpiece

Untitled masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I have been discouraged lately!

I’d really started serving God with all my heart and spending more time in His Word than ever. But instead of circumstances getting better, they got much harder!

In the last months’ time, my life went from being wonderfully fulfilling and clicking right along to being completely upside down.  A book deal I was excited about took a difficult turn, in another direction than I had planned.  A daughter making unwise choices, then I received a letter from my ex-husband’s new love, boosting of their love..ugh…ouch.  So, needless to say, I was not feeling very good about myself, and starting to doubt my worth.

Then God began to reveal His truth to me through His word and prayer.

This is His truth for us:

He has called and chosen you for a very special purpose.

You are God’s masterpiece. God takes delight in you. In you, God has made something truly good and beautiful.

In God’s Word, He tells us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Isn’t that good news? When we have this revelation, we can boldly say, “The LORD is my helper;
I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
(Hebrews 13:5-6)

But too many of us (maybe because of our past hurts) have believed the enemy’s lies about who we are. “You’re worthless,” he tells us. “You’ll never be good enough. You’re destined to be a failure, never to amount to anything.”

But, the Good news is; no matter what your life has been like until now, this truth can set you free: Jesus Christ loves you, and He has chosen you! He calls you His friend, and He has appointed you to bear fruit for His Kingdom (John 15:14-16).

14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:14-16

Christ didn’t choose you because you deserved to be chosen. It’s because He loves you and has a special purpose for your life. God has placed you in this moment in history so you can bear fruit in His Kingdom. You have important things to do!

When our Heavenly Father looks at us, all He sees is beauty and greatness. He says, “I don’t care what others say about you. You are My priceless work of art, full of divine potential. I created you to do things nobody else can do in this entire world.” You see, the Lord is Faithful and Loves to remind us of how much He loves us.  Amen! Hallelujah!

If our desire for obedience is born merely out of duty, we may be quick to give up. Especially when everything in life seems to be going haywire. However, if our desire is born out of delight, out of a love relationship that burns deep in our souls, it won’t be extinguished — no matter the cost.   The Lord has works set aside, just for you.

“Who can say but that God has brought you into the palace for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

Did you know you were chosen by God before He even laid the foundation of the world? What’s more, He chose you because He loved you. When you know you’ve been chosen, it makes you feel special.

The apostle Paul also uses the word elect when he speaks of being chosen. We are the elect of God. Do you know what it means to be the elect of God? It means “hand picked by God.”

Once you fully understand what Paul is saying, you’ll find it easy to walk in your true identity. You’ll begin to think, “I’m chosen by God. Of course, He will heal me. Of course, He will give me victory. I’m hand-picked by God, and I’ve been set apart for Him.”

Are you ready to start believing and declaring what God says about you? That’s the key to a whole new beginning in your life—a new season of peace, power, and fruitfulness.

My name is Cheryl Cooper Downum, I have been a survivor of childhood sexual and a victim of a stalker and sexual assault at 15. I endured a painful divorce in 2015. As I’ve walked this journey, I’ve found myself growing closer to Jesus. My heart is now infused with empathy for others that find themselves in this place. And, God has given me a story, a message of hope to share. A message birthed in my brokenness that brought forth a sweet-surrendered dependence on God’s unconditional acceptance and love. The reason I am writing this blog is; I have found in my life that the Lord often uses our deepest pain as the launching pad to our deepest calling. My desire is to encourage His children to seek a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope that as you read my blog, you will feel inspired and encouraged. Thank you for visiting! God Bless! The Lord has also blessed me abundantly with 3 beautiful grown and married adult children.
