We Can Depend On You

I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1–3

David is waking from a really bad period in his life and so he thanks God. He wrote it “when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.” So David is thanking God for delivering him from trouble. The Psalms are like his prayer journal. He sang and prayed this Psalm as a reminder of the ways the Lord had delivered him, and so can we. As we look at how David prayed in this Psalm, we see he prays three ways. He prays in desperation, in darkness, and in deliverance.

The great thing about the book of Psalms is we can learn how to guide our prayers. In other words, I can read a Psalm and pray what the Lord is saying to me through it.

These verses point to the fact that we can depend on God. When you are in distress and have nowhere to hide, let us seek refuse in The Lord and depend on His almighty arms. When we are facing hardship, we think really hard and try all possible ways to solve our problems, but we forget the most important thing, which is We can depend on the Lord!

Prayer: Lord, help me build my life on your foundation. Shield me this day from those who would oppress me. Hide me in the shadows of your wings. I love you Lord with all my heart!

My name is Cheryl Cooper, I have been a survivor of childhood sexual and a victim of a stalker and sexual assault at 15. I endured a painful divorce in 2015. As I’ve walked this journey, I’ve found myself growing closer to Jesus. My heart is now infused with empathy for others that find themselves in this place. And, God has given me a story, a message of hope to share. A message birthed in my brokenness that brought forth a sweet-surrendered dependence on God’s unconditional acceptance and love. The reason I am writing this blog is; I have found in my life that the Lord often uses our deepest pain as the launching pad to our deepest calling. My desire is to encourage His children to seek a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope that as you read my blog, you will feel inspired and encouraged. Thank you for visiting! God Bless! The Lord has also blessed me abundantly with 3 beautiful grown and married adult children.
