I Will Give You Rest

Invite God to pick up and handle what we are not able to handle. God actually encourages and commands us to shift to Him the weight and responsibility of our burdens! He promises to take care of them. And He always takes care of them better than we can!

Are you trying to pick up something that is too heavy for you? Are you carrying spiritual, emotional or relational baggage God never intended for you to carry? Give it up to Him! Trust Him! Experience the rest that comes when you do!

Dear Lord, thank You for seeing my need for rest and inviting me to learn from You. On my own I always seem to be looking for knowledge and approval elsewhere. In my heart I want to receive what You have to offer. Help me to stay focused on You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

His Mercies Are New

Blank Facebook Post (29)

Yes! We are extremely blessed, because God’s mercy is new every morning!  We can start each day with a clean slate with no traces of yesterday.  His mercies are new each and every day.  I don’t know about you, but that is good news.

Because of God’s steadfast, unconditional, unwavering love, we don’t have to drown in our despair. When we end the day feeling downcast and worn out, and wondering if the morning will be any different, we have great hope because his grace and mercy toward us are always moving in strength – regardless of how well we have done. We can trust him to carry us in the deepest of valley’s, of brokenness, and despair.

I am deeply grateful for this mercy that is new every morning, every moment and every day.

Let his grace and love captivate your heart as you seek him each day.

Thank You, precious Savior, that Your love is steadfast. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You for Your great faithfulness, not only to me but to all Your people from the first day of creation. When I am tempted to become depressed and distressed, may I choose to gaze on You. May I remember that You are my portion. May I hope in Your unceasing love, amen

What Does The Lord Require

Blank Facebook Post (16)

Have you ever found yourself pleading with God to show you what to do? How to please and serve Him…but not knowing how?

Well, here is a good place to start: Micah 6:8, we need to handle those around us justly — practicing patience and dealing with others in fairness, without partiality. We need to practice mercy — blessing others in need with what they don’t deserve but so greatly need. We need to walk humbly with our God.

It’s interesting to note that although there is action involved, each of those requirements starts with a soft and loving heart. We won’t act justly if we harbor resentment or hate. We won’t show kindness and mercy if we seek to serve ourselves. And a prideful heart will always walk ahead of God.  Finding God’s will for your life is really pretty simple. He wants all of your heart. He wants a surrendered life.

Maybe all God is asking of us is to stand for what is right … to choose kindness … and to walk closely to Him, submitting our will daily.

As for me, I want to embrace all that God has for me, and that means obeying what He’s already shown me.

I hope God’s Word encourages you today. Maybe it really is this simple. Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God. Now, the choice is yours.

Father, please make of me what you will. As you fashion me, please bless me as I seek to be a person of justice, mercy, and humility. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

The Beautiful Name Of Jesus

Blank Facebook Post (19)

YES!  There is truly no more beautiful name than Jesus!

Names have power.

He is our Redeemer, Savior, Friend, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Anointed one, Advocate, Beloved Son Of God, Bright and Morning Star, Deliverer, Healer, Restorer , to name but a few.

He is the Lord. He is the name above all names. He is mighty to be praised.

We are His kingdom on earth in the here and now. God doesn’t need us. He wants us. He desires to live in constant communion with us and for us to live out His plan for our lives in preparation for eternity.

Jesus brought heaven to us. He came into humanity and lived the perfect life that we never could. He traded places with us. He took the sin of all on Himself on the cross.

Praying in Jesus name is powerful because when we pray in His name, we pray with His authority. God promises to answer whatever we ask in His name according to His will. This is why we must know the will of God in order to pray with the authority of Jesus. What a power in His name!

He Will Cover You With His Feathers

I wonder if there are times when God would like to have comforted us “under his wings” but instead of coming to Him, we depended on our own resources. When He covers us, the forces of evil cannot penetrate His protection.

God’s wings provide safety and refuge. In Psalm 17:8 David asked the Lord to hide him in the shadow of His wings, protecting him from danger and attack. I may not have physical enemies attacking me but Satan is continually attacking me with fears, despair, discouragement, and countless other negative thoughts. When I cry out to God for His protection, His Word and Spirit are my refuge.

If you are experiencing pressures or satan’s attacks in your life today, just ask the Lord in faith to help you.  Say, “God, you said you’d be my refuge!”  If you’ve run out of strength , remember that he is your strength.  Now you have to run to him!  Begin by praising him right now for loving you and for being all that you need.  Thank God that he is greater than every problem you may encounter.  Tell him, “Thank you, Lord, for who you are!”  Then trust him to be your refuge and your strength, at this very moment in your life.

Father, what words can I offer that are sufficient to thank and praise you for your deliverance that is greater than death? You are the Alpha and the Omega. You are the God who was and is and is to come. You are my Abba Father, who has adopted me and made me your own. I place my trust, my hope, and future in you and I will not be afraid. I find my refuge under your wings! All praise to you in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Casting Your Cares On Him

Blank Facebook Post (4)

The psalmist wrote, “Be still, and know that I am God” (46:10).  Paul exhorted the Philippians to “be anxious for nothing” (Phil 4:6). And Peter instructed his readers to cast all their cares on God (1 Peter 5:7).

I confess that for too long I have tried to work out my own problems and carry my own cares in my own self-strength, but I thank You Father-God that You care so much for me that I can cast all the burdens and hurts and disappointments and worries that seem to be flooding my life today, upon You – in the sure knowledge that you have promised to carry them. I admit I am weak, but I praise You that I can draw on Your amazing strength today and in the days that lie ahead, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Things Above

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3

If you’re a Christian, your identity is not in this world. It is found in Christ. You belong to him.

Have you ever asked yourself what occupies your thoughts? That’s a challenging question and one we should not ignore. We are what we think. If our thoughts are focused on the concerns of this world, we will become like the world. But if our minds are set on the things above—in other words, where Christ is—we’ll become more like Him.

When we think on Christ and meditate on his word we find that the things of the world will lose it’s appeal. The more aware we are of Jesus, the less we tolerate sin, because we know it doesn’t fit us anymore. Instead of chasing the passing pleasures and goals of the world, we’ll pursue a lifestyle of obedience to the Lord.  Even when everything looks dismal, we have a reason to hope because our time here is so small compared to eternity with Christ.

Your beliefs determine your perspective on life, and that shapes your priorities and attitudes.

Always check your heart and make sure you pursue the mind of Christ in every area of your life.

Gracious Lord, we surrender afresh to You and Your Lordship over all areas of our life. Give us Your heart and mind today as we choose to walk with You.
