The Eyes of the Lord are On Us

Ps 34:15-22

15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. 21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

Our Father knows what we need (and want) even before we ask him. We are promised when we ask according to his will, he will answer us and give us what is best.

As our heavenly Father, He loves us and has our best interest at heart. This does not mean we will not have problems, but it does mean he will deliver us as we go through them. In fact, He allows many of them because they mold us, strengthen us, give us wisdom and build our faith.

There is nothing too large and nothing too small for us to bring to him. He longs to hear our joy and thanksgiving, but he also wants to hear our requests. He knows our weaknesses, but he wants us to talk to him about them. In this way we are given strength to overcome. There is no better time to mediate on the word of God than when we are talking with him. This opens the door of our hearts to a better understanding and wisdom of how to apply his word in our lives.

Thank you, Father, for seeing my needs, hearing my cries, answering my prayers, and coming down to save, comfort, and bless. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lord I Need You

Jesus, I need you!

I heard this song on the radio this morning and it spoke to me in such a sweet way and I found myself in tears.

This song is a cry to God. When we have nothing left in ourselves, when we are not sure where we are going, when we are lost and don’t know which way out, this is a song we can sing to Him.

I utterly need Jesus in my life, in all circumstances, in every moment. I need Him to be goodness in me. I need Him to be my righteousness. Without Him, I am incapable of either.

My heart, my salvation, was bought at such a huge price. It cost my Savior His life. My sins, placed on His shoulders, became His burden. Through His death and resurrection, I am forgiven. It’s only by His grace that I no longer have to experience spiritual death. And not just me, but all who call upon His name and claim Christ as Savior.

You are my Lord, my God, my King. You are worthy of all of my worship. Help me, by your grace, to know you and love you so deeply and dearly that the things of this world fade away and grow strangely dim.

Lord Jesus, grant me your grace, your mercy, and your loving kindness to enable me to see you, know you, love you, and be one with you. Thank you that your Word tells me if we ask anything in your name and according to your will that you will do it. Amen.

“Lord I Need You” Lyrics

Verse 1:
Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Verse 2:
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Bridge:
Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

You’re my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

I Will Seek You In The Morning

Give ear to my words, O Lord;
consider my meditation.
Harken to the to the voice of my cry,
my King and my God,
for unto you do I pray.
O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayers;
Unto you I look up and wait with expectation. Psalm 5 1-3

How does your day begin?

The first thing David did each morning was to lift his voice to the Lord. His first words of the day were to God. He goes on, “In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” What a perfect way to begin the day!

Lift your voice to God in prayer. Lay your requests before Him. Set out before Him the things you are going to have to do that day. Commit to Him the problems, the difficulties you anticipate. Submit all your decisions to Him.

Morning prayer sets the tone for the day. If our morning begins with worry, that will only increase as the day moves along. But if we start out by enjoying time with God and receiving strength from God, we will more likely remain in his peace as the day continues. There’s no better way to begin the day than with prayer.

May we each bring our requests before Him often…waiting with expectation.

Loving Father, thank you for meeting me in this prayer time. I know that you hear me and care about what I share with you. Thank you for paying attention to someone like me and accepting me as your precious child. Thank you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jesus Is All I Want

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6

Jesus is not only the way; He is the only way to the Father. Man is totally ruined in sin, and his only hope in a right relationship with God is through the atonement of Jesus Christ. The solution to our problem is a personal relationship with Christ.

We know the way to the Father’s house: Jesus. Know Jesus. Follow Jesus. Obey Jesus. Love Jesus. Jesus is the way because if you know Jesus, then you know the Father. Jesus reveals the truth of God and the life that is found in God. Then live as the way, showing other people Jesus also.

Precious Jesus, how can I ever express my gratitude? Thank You for Your great love for me that led You to Calvary to die in my place. I offer my heart and my life to You as a living sacrifice – it is my reasonable service. Use me to fulfill Your purposes. In the name of Jesus…amen.

May People See Jesus In Me

We are called to live a life that points others in His direction.

I want to live my life as the best example I can be. In other words, I want to let them see Jesus in me.   I mess up, I make mistakes, but I will do my best to be a light for others to see in this dark world!

I will say that we may be the ONLY witness that some people will see so let’s show them a good representation.

I am reminded of the words of Colton Dixon’s song this morning and am praying them earnestly…
Let them see you, in me
let them hear you, when I speak
let them feel you, when I sing
let them see you,
just let them see you, in me

Dear Jesus,
Yes, Lord, yes! I want people to see You in me. I praise You Father for these words this morning. Lord, how we live on this earth will determine where we will live for eternity. Oh how I pray for more people to come into relationship with You. Father, fill me to overflowing so people will see You in me.

When we learn to Love God better

“To love you as I should, I must worship God as Creator. When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now. In so far as I learn to love my earthly dearest at the expense of God and instead of God, I shall be moving towards the state in which I shall not love my earthly dearest to all. When first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased.” ― C.S. Lewis

This quote really struck me as a reminder that although we find our time taken up more than ever before by others, we shouldn’t allow our faith to fall by the wayside.  Romantic love is a wonderful thing, but it is secondary and dependent on a greater source. If the divine romance is neglected, our earthly friendships, families, and marriages suffer the effect.

If we aren’t in the Word or loving Christ with our whole heart then we truly can’t love our husbands/wives like we should. I love this incredible quote by CS Lewis~

Not only does Christ himself make a marriage truly Christian, as we look to him, but he also guards a marriage against idolatrous instincts and impulses.

As we remember that it is Christ alone who gives our wife/husband all our life and light, We don’t need our wife/husband to be more than they can be. We can receive our life together as the glorious miracle it is, and marvel at how present Christ is with us. Our imperfections are the very place where he dwells the most meaningfully.

Love The Lord our God

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.’ ” Matthew 22:37-38

Love Completely

Let us seek to love and honor the Lord with every part of our being – to love as Christ loved us – to love Him with our heart, our mind, our thoughts and our motives.

God alone is worthy of our worship, admiration and affection. Everything and everyone else pales in comparison to this great and loving God!

We are called to take every thought captive to the Lord so that we may remain in sweet fellowship with the God of our salvation.

When the eyes of our heart are totally fixed on Him in thankfulness for His dying on the cross at Calvary for our sins. We who have been forgiven much are called to love much.  Indeed, it should be our complete joy

Only if we pursue loving God can we live out a life of meaning. May we all become people who love God. Amen!

My Prayer

Loving Father thank You for loving me when I was dead in my sins and for bringing me into Your family, simply because I trusted the Lord Jesus as Savior – Lord I want to love you with every part of my being. May I live as You would choose and love You with all my heart and soul and strength and mind, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Give Thanks

“I will praise thee, O Lord with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in thee:  I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High,” (Psalm 9:1-2)

David tells us in these verses that he will praise God with his whole heart.  He’s giving God everything he has as a part of his praise.  He’s not withholding anything from God.  Unfortunately, many of us hold out on God sometimes because of fear (perhaps the fear of what people will say or think).   We have to move beyond that fear and praise God aloud and with purpose.

Our praise includes telling people about God’s marvelous works.  Praise God by telling someone your testimony.  Let’s open our mouths and tell the world of all he has done.  Let’s sing praises to God and to His name.  Even if we’re not the best singers in the world, we can still sing praises to His name.

As you go about your day today, remember God’s marvelous works.  Think about all the times He’s delivered you from trouble.  Think about all the blessings He has given you.  Think about the favor, grace, and mercy He has shown you.  When you do these things, I’m sure you’ll begin to open your mouth and sing about His marvelous works.

Loving Father, thank You that in Christ I know Your name, Your character and Your amazing grace, which is poured out in such abundance on all who trust in the Lord Jesus as Savior. I pray that my heart may seek You more and more with each passing day and I ask that You would increase in me a deeper longing to know You more and to love You better, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Restore The Joy Of Our Salvation

Blank Facebook Post (54)

Here we see that David’s heart is broken. He comes with a humble and repentant heart before God.  He seeks reconciliation, mercy, and cleansing. He requests that God would restore to him a clean heart, gladness, and the joy of his salvation.

David doesn’t just say, “I’m sorry.” He means it. He pleads with God to have mercy on him. He acknowledges and feels the weight of his sins, which are “always before him” (Psalm 51:1-3). When we’re really sorry, we acknowledge our sins without making excuses and sincerely seek forgiveness.

When we are truly repentant, we want to learn and grow from our mistakes. David begs God to change His heart and restore their relationship: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me” (Psalm 51:10-12).

When our hearts are aligned with God’s, our actions will be, too (Psalm 51:17-19). And when that happens, God works through us to share His message of salvation with others (Psalm 51:13).

Lord God, I am so thankful for your willingness to forgive me. I know that on my own there is nothing I can do to ever be right with you because my sin has come between us. I also know that because of your great love, your tender mercy and your marvelous grace, you have provided a way of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus your Son. As your child, help me live every moment of every day in a way that brings honor to you and shows Jesus living in me. Give your peace to those who are hurting and grieving. I pray in the name of Jesus my Savior.

For I Am Not Ashamed

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.

Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel. He was full of zeal for those who didn’t know about Jesus.

We are called to have a certain amount of boldness in our lives. We need to have a fire burning for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our passion should be to see our lost loved ones come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. We should look out over our city and weep because so many don’t know the saving truth. The Gospel transforms our lives. God sent his only son to die in our place so that the penalty for our sin could be paid. When this debt is removed it is replaced with true righteousness that brings about a union with God. We can now go to Him freely and worship him. Don’t be ashamed of your faith. Ask for a boldness for the gospel of Jesus Christ that will compel you to share it with others.

Heavenly Father, Help me to be bold when proclaiming the Gospel today. Give me eyes to see those who are waiting to be told. Fill me up with your Spirit so that I will not be ashamed but will gladly proclaim the story of Jesus. Fill my life with the hope of Jesus’ glorious and victorious return so that I might share it with passion and others will know of your grace. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen
