I Will Call Upon The Lord

c5zazkrvuaik-w4

We serve such an Awesome God!

I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3

Psalm 18 is a such a special psalm because you will find it in 2 places in the Bible. It is here in the Book of Psalms. It is also in the Book of 2 Samuel. 2 Samuel tells us the story of David after he became king.

I Love how this Psalm begins; “I love you” this is such a beautiful intimate proclamation from an earthly king spoken to the heavenly King who rescued him from his enemies.  Our Lord is a fortress for protection, delivery, safety, refuge, and strength. All attributes of the God who loves us and draws us to himself.  He is worthy of Praise, He is worthy of Trust, He is our Strength in times of trouble and He wants to deliver us ALL. Hallelujah

Blessed be the name of the LORD.

God answered David’s prayer because He delights in His worshipers.

Let these verses be an encouragement for you today, knowing, He wants to deliver you from your enemies, enlighten you in your darkness, reward you, strengthen you, make your way perfect, lift you up, and show you mercy. Blessed be the name of the LORD.!

Walk today in the knowledge that our God saves, redeems and restores.

Isaiah 43:4 say’s “Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you;”

1 John 3:1, “What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it — we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are.”

Daniel 10:19, “Don’t be afraid,” he said, “for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!”

Deuteronomy 7:6,  For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Luke 12:6-7, Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 127:3 – “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”

Psalm 139:13-15 – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.”

Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Matthew 6:25-26 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Ephesians 2:4-5 “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

If you’ve ever doubted your own worth, or don’t know where to go from where you are, or you’re losing heart … then listen to Our Heavenly Father saying to you, “You are important enough to Me That I sent My Son to die for your sins, that you may live. And, I want to have a close and intimate relationship with you.”

Don’t wait another minute. Run. Yes, run to His arms right now. Let Him whisper these words to you, “I love you my child and you are highly valued and precious in my sight!”

A Virtuous Women Who Can Find

proverbs-31-10-who-can-find-a-virtuous-woman-pink-copy

I have to admit, I struggled with this devotion today.  I found myself doubting if I live up to the standards of the Proverbs 31 women.  Then as I studied and prayed about this passage, the Lord showed me something new. Proverbs 31 is believed to be the embodiment of many virtuous women, not just one.She is described not by physical attributes but by her virtues, her Godly qualities. Already I’m feeling a whole lot better, aren’t you?

I realized It all comes down to our heart attitude toward God.  You see, the Proverbs 31 Woman is the epidemy of a godly woman, not because she’s perfect, but because all that she does is a result of her relationship with her Saviour. The Proverbs 31 women is an example to every woman who wishes to please the Lord because she fears Him first and foremost, and every other area of her life is abundantly blessed because of it. This doesn’t just apply to married women, but to every woman.  She understands what it means to be a woman after God’s own heart. If anything, the Proverbs 31 Woman should be an encouragement to all women to pursue a closer, more intimate relationship with Jesus.

So, I have learned that all I need to do in order to be a Proverbs 31 Woman, is put God first and focus on my relationship with Him. He desires to have our complete devotion, He wants to be our first love – and that, dear virtuous woman, is what He deserves.

She is praised not because of her own beauty, but because she is clothed with HIS beauty and HIS strength and HIS honor. When God is given His rightful place in our lives, then He can transform our personalities and everything He made in us to reflect His beauty and grace, thus making us virtuous!

Love The Lord With All Your Heart

hspkl1486937945

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.”  Luke 10:27

Many of us who love God believe we are doing so with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  But when we are really honest with ourselves, we find that we fall short in at least one area.

To love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength is to live for God above everything else. It is to use all that God has given you—your heart, your thoughts and even your physical energy for Him and His purposes.

God created us for the sake of love. He has so much love to share and He wants to have an intimate relationship with us.   God truly wants our heart. He wants us to love Him back, to reciprocate that love in a totally committed way.

Loving God with all your heart is spending time with Him in His presence. It’s shutting out all the noise around you and making it to that quiet place. Whether it’s in your bedroom, prayer closet, bathroom, car, back patio, office, just spend that precious time with Him.He wants you to talk to Him, cry out to Him, laugh with Him, and worship Him. It’s having a hunger for His Word and a desire to know all about Him.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. — Matt. 6:21
The more that I think about what God has commanded us, the more I see that there is a priority in love that sets the course for all of life. If I love God with all my heart, then every decision and step of my life will be made to honor and protect my love for my Lord.

When we love God with all our heart, mind, souls, and strength, our focus is on Him.We’re not consumed with ourselves. We’re consumed with our great God.

May He increase in each of our lives as we love Him more and ourselves less!

Rejoice

k88271486922192

Rejoice because your name is written in heaven.

Rejoice because we are His.  Rejoice because He has given us life, life now, and life for all eternity.  Rejoice because we know the source of our life and our hope.

Rejoice because God has made us His very own.  Rejoice because He loves us!  Rejoice because He is good.  Rejoice because His mercies are new every morning.  Rejoice because He is Faithful!

Rejoice because our identity is not found in what we do.  Our identity is found in who we are.  We are His.  That’s where our joy comes from!  Isn’t that reason to Rejoice?

In Philippians 4:4, he reminds us several times to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” This is because God knows that our lives are more abundantly blessed and fruitful when we are saturated with his joy, enthusiasm, thankfulness and hope.

“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)

God means for His word to be an encouragement, refreshing, and challenge to us. To know God’s heart for each of us and what He did on our behalf, should put new energy and urgency behind all that we say and do.

Tell someone what God has done for you.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating heaven. A place where we will spend eternity with You and our loved ones who have accepted Your invitation. Help us live with a joyful heart always rejoicing and sharing the hope we have of eternal life with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God Takes Great Delight In His Children

zeph-317

This is one of my favorite verses in Scripture, it describes the deep and abiding love God has for us.

Zephaniah 3:17 is full of emotion. God, our Heavenly Father is the One who holds His daughter Jerusalem and sings joyfully in her presence. Just as a loving parent cradles their child and sings to them in love to calm them.  This is born of His great love for us. After a time of hardship, our loving Father will dry our tears, comfort our hearts, and welcome you to a new family.

Can you imagine this beautiful picture, that God is literally dancing over you with shouts of joy and singing? Many of us have missed out on this beautiful image of God’s love. How beautiful the sound of His voice must be.  How awesome it must be to see God dance. And it is all over you, His beloved child.

He will rejoice over you with gladness: We often underestimate the joy God has in His people and too often think God is annoyed or irritated with us. “Faulty as the church is, the Lord rejoices in her. While we mourn, as well we may, yet we do not sorrow as those that are without hope; for God does not sorrow, his heart is glad, and he is said to rejoice with joy – a highly emphatic expression.” (Spurgeon)

Do you know that God thinks about you all the time? Do you know that God’s love for you is immeasurable and unfathomable and to such a degree that it transcends all human understanding? He wants you to know He loves you, He wants you to know He cherishes you, God longs for you to fall into His embrace and to cleave unto Him with all your heart and strength?

He longs to have a relationship with His children.  He wants to be wanted by you, He wants to be adored, He wants to be treasured, and He wants to be worshiped? The Psalmist says that God’s thoughts toward us are so many and so wonderful that they cannot be numbered.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you. Psalm 139 17-18

When we feel like we are not good enough to be loved by God, we should remember that God’s love is greater than our doubts. We must silence the sounds of condemnation so we can hear the voice of God’s loving assurance and remember that He has chosen us to be part of His family.

I John 3:1:2  Consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us—He calls us children of God! It’s true; we are His beloved children. And in the same way the world didn’t recognize Him, the world does not recognize us either.  2: Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him because we shall see him as he is.

We are God’s poetic masterpiece; the ultimate evidence of His unboundless love. The unfathomable richness of His love and mercy is focused on us. He chose us when we were dead in trespasses and sin and gave us true life in Christ and we are an eternal testimony of the riches of His grace.  Consider and take to heart these beautiful words expressing God’s love for you. This is one of the most incredible sections of Scripture about the wonders of God’s love for us.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10

So, people, we should stand in awe!  God’s beloved children He treasures you and loves you, and He dances and sings over you with great joy. God has great plans, great purposes and great treasures stored up for you. God cherishes every thought of you and longs for an intimate fellowship with you. He is always looking for you. His love, goodness, and mercy will relentlessly pursue you all the days of your life.  Will you reach out to Him and accept His Love?  He is waiting, isn’t time to come home?

‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Living In The Presence Of God

86e936ca0db1706d61ce8925f3d7d250

How aware are you of the presence of God? Is your life lived in the very presence of God? Do you live in constant communion with Him? The Scriptures teach us that He is always with us:

He longs for you to dwell with Him, commune with Him, and delight in Him. He desires to be with us every moment of our day. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. —Psalm 16:11.  The greatest thing in all of life is to know God. In Him, you will find true meaning and purpose.

No matter where we go, God, is there. While it is true that we cannot flee from God’s presence, we must recognize that we can lose the sense of God’s presence:

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me? Psalm 13:1

If you’re in a season of feeling far from God, lean on Him. Trust the loving hand of your precious Savior and know that He will lead you to the other side.

1 Samuel 16:23 (NNAS) So it came about whenever the evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would depart from him.

That is a powerful testimony to the effect of music. I believe that music can greatly enhance our worship and our fellowship with the Lord. I know in my own life whenever I get down, whenever I am struggling spiritually, I put on a good praise song and my heart is encouraged and refreshed. It focuses our mind and heart upon the Lord and His goodness and helps me to dwell in his presence.

Let’s take God at His word, let’s choose to believe that “in His presence is fullness of joy”, and then let’s make every effort to live in His presence 24/7. Study His word and grow in the Grace and knowledge of Him.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Joshua 1:8

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. Jeremiah 20:9

We have been joined to Christ, the God who created the universe dwells in us! I believe that there is so much more to the spiritual life than most believers ever experience. Let’s learn to practice the presence of God. As His children, let’s live in communion with Him, thinking of Him constantly, and seeking to do only those things that please Him. Let’s make practicing His presence the priority of our lives.

Seek His Face

bwcobhrceaenr9u

I love those quiet morning hours before the hustle and bustle of the day when I spend my alone time with God. It is spending time in His word and praying that I find strength for the day, strength to meet the trials and whatever else the day may hold. Just as God says:

My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer to you, and will look up. Psalm 5:3

The Lord Jesus wants our love, and we have a sweet sensation when we greet Him each morning with, “Lord Jesus, I love You.” The more we tell our Lord we love Him, the more our love for Him grows, and the more we enjoy His love for us. Our hearts become soft and open to Him.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

You can have such wonderful encounters with God when you approach His throne in the morning.  I encourage you to start praying when you wake up if you aren’t already doing so.  When you wake with God you take Him with you too.  God bless you as you live a life worthy of His calling.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. Proverbs 8:34

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I will stay focused on you today.  I pray that You will constantly remind me to be content in all of my circumstances.  I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in.  I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified.  I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do.  I praise Your Holy Name!  Amen

Renew Our Strength

16770-isaiah-40-31-eagle

When our hope is in the Lord our strength is renewed. Whatever you are facing today you have a choice. Where will you put your hope?

God has a purpose and plan for your life, and His timing is perfect. Sometimes He answers our prayers with “yes” or “no.” But at other times, He says, “Wait.” When this is the case, we can avail ourselves of the rich rewards that come while we wait.

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORDwill renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40 28-31

God promises to strengthen us as we lean on Him during delays. Isaiah 40:31 describes an eagle soaring—a beautiful metaphor for how the believer who abides in the Lord will be lifted and sustained by His Spirit.

When David faced his greatest battles, he waited upon the Lord. God delivered him from destruction and set his feet on solid ground (Psalms 40: 1-3). He will do the same for you. When you abide in Him, He gives us the energy to accomplish the things He requires of you—His Spirit does for you what you cannot do for yourself.

I waited patiently for the Lord;  And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord. Psalm 40 1-3

Please help me to learn to quietly wait upon You and to rest in Your love – knowing that you have scheduled every day of my life. Give me the courage and wisdom to be still and to wait quietly, patiently and expectantly knowing that Your timing is perfect and that You know the plans that You have purposed for my life, even though I do not!

Unconditional Love Of God

gods-unconditional-love

Do you believe God loves you unconditionally?

This is what I (wrongly) believed: If I am good, I am acceptable. If I help people … if I am a blessing instead of a burden … well, then I am accepted. But, if I fail, mess up, then I feel like a reject — not acceptable to God.

My skewed belief was that I was acceptable only when I was doing well or in the center of God’s will. Clearly, I had not truly embraced my identity in Christ because acceptance is what I already have. We all struggle to some degree with believing God loves us unconditionally. Many of us believe that we have to earn God’s favor. We think, “I read my Bible, so He loves me.” Or, “Things aren’t going so well, so it must be because I’m not doing it right.”

The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save and deliver. He will quiet you with His love and rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

In this passage, God tells a rebellious people that He actually stands over them singing and rejoicing, like a mother sings over her children to calm them down.

No matter what you have done or how bad you may have blown it, the truth of God’s love is that the God of the Universe, the Creator of this world loves you!

As a believer in Jesus Christ, His spirit dwells inside of us. And He wants to deliver us and quiet the stress of our heart with a love that’s unconditional and not based on our performance.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In spite of our sinfulness, God demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus to die for us.

Truly, every person was created with a desire and need in his or her heart to love God and feel His love. But it is what we choose to do with this desire—act upon it or ignore it—that draws us closer to the Father or away from Him.

When we enter into a loving relationship with God, He is able and willing to offer His wisdom to guide us  James 1:5.  When we embrace God’s love, we will begin to see people and circumstances as He sees them—from the vantage point of His love.

In light of this, why would anyone choose to refuse God’s love? If you are ready to reap the benefits of God’s perfect love, reach out to Him in prayer today. Ask Him to help you overcome the hindrances so that you may rejoice in His everlasting and tender care.

God’s love is unconditional, it’s free, and all we have to do to experience it is accept it, and rejoice in it. Let’s stop trying to earn God’s love and let ourselves experience it!

Prayer For Salvation

God’s love is not based on our goodness or how we perform but rather on who’s we are and we are all God’s children when we accept His son, Jesus Christ, who gave His life for all of us. Receiving the love of Jesus and living in his love every day, is the first and most essential step in having a love worth giving. Jesus gave His life for you! If you desire to know God’s unconditional love and want to follow Jesus, you can pray this prayer of salvation.

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

If you decided to repent of your sins and receive Christ today, welcome to God’s family. Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.
