Trusting God

trusting-god-when-it-seems-impossible

Trusting God when the miracle does not come, when the urgent prayer gets no answer when there is only darkness – this is the kind of faith God values perhaps most of all.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

When we learn to trust the Lord completely, we begin to have a sense of rest in Him.  You begin to realize that God has everything under control even when life appears to be out of control.  Trusting God when you don’t understand brings you to a point where you decide to trust God and NOT in your own understanding.

As Christians, we must make a decision to trust God regardless of how scary the situation may seem.  Trusting God doesn’t prevent you from being in uncomfortable situations but it does allow you to be placed in a position where you seek the Lord’s presence, provisions, guidance, and promises.

Undivided Heart

Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. Psalm 86:11

An Undivided Heart

Lord, put in me a new spirit
Remove my heart of stone
And give to me a heart of flesh
That trusts in You alone
Oh, That I may fear Your name
Each day right from the start
Oh, Lord, please give to me
An undivided heart.

I want a gaze that never waivers
Or loses sight of the goal
To keep it’s focus on obeying You
With mind and body and soul
Help me to walk in submission to Christ
In whole and not in part
Oh, Lord, please give to me
An undivided heart.

I want Your joy to be my greatest strength
Your salvation my impassioned praise
Your holiness to be my way of living
For all the rest of my days
Keep me steadfast in doing Your work
And following the course that You chart
Oh, Lord, please give to me
An undivided heart.

Teach me to daily die to self
And to spend much time in prayer
That I may be discerning of those around me
And treat them with genuine care
I want to be totally true to You
To wear your righteousness as my mark
Oh, Lord, please give to me
An undivided heart.

I want to live the time You’ve given me
Committed fully to Your purpose and call
Lord, consume me with Your awesome presence
Cause me on my knees to fall
And bow to Your desire for my life
Let no circumstance keep us apart
Oh, Lord, please give to me
An undivided heart.

 Crystal C. Godfrey

Righteous God and Holy Father, please help me to have an undivided heart, one that seeks you as the first priority in my life. Forgive me, dear Lord, for letting other things distract my focus from you and interfere with my service to your Kingdom. Fill me with a holy passion and a consuming fire for you Lord, that I may be worthy of your calling. Help me Lord to serve you and others above all other concerns and interests. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Divine Appointments

Divine Appointments

Have you ever had a coincidence, which was so special that it seemed like God was in it? A divine appointment is ‘a meeting’ which was inspired and God led. God is sovereign; He is all-knowing and all-powerful.

Sometimes God wants to bless us and other people. The possibilities of divine appointments are endless! If we are willing to be led by the Holy Spirit, great things are possible.

The possibilities of divine appointments are endless! If we are willing to be led by the Holy Spirit, great things are possible.

The Scriptures say, “The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.” After decades of walking (off and on, but mostly on) with God, I can tell you that seeing God set up these “appointments” is a thrill that is beyond comparison.

Throughout the Bible, there are many examples of divine appointments. Time after time God leads the faithful to cross another person’s path and great things happen!

Several years ago, I was running in the park one morning and felt God was giving me a prophecy for my friend JD. I began to pray on how the Lord wanted me to proceed.  I felt the Lord calling me to minister to him, so the next day I walked up to him and said “I don’t know what is wrong, but I know you are struggling if you ever need anything I am here” he looked at me with a look of shock, but said nothing.  The next day, I received a call from him saying “how did you know, I have not told anyone? I told him the Lord spoke to me.  He told me he had been struggling with the feeling that he had gone too far away from God and his sin was far too great for forgiveness.  He explained how he was being tormented night and day, but was too ashamed to tell anyone.  I was able to get him the help he needed and later realized he had not been eating in weeks and had signed everything he owned over to me.  If I had not intervened the doctor said he may have ended his life.

He was totally amazed that God would speak to me about him. It turned out to be a great encouragement to us both.  We were later married.  I know without a doubt this WAS a divine appointment.  I was thankful that the Lord used me and I heard His call.

Be open to God!  We just have to be open to what God is doing today and every day.
Pray and ask God to lead you into divine appointments. Many say a prayer like this, “Holy Spirit whatever you are doing today, let me be a part of it, I want to glorify Jesus and advance the kingdom”.

After praying be prepared if God has anything for you; He can do the impossible and the unexpected.

My Divine appointment – Divine Intervention

Several years ago, One morning as I was running in the park I felt God was giving me a prophecy for my friend JD. I was resistant at first, but the Lord continued to nudge me. So, I began to pray on how the Lord wanted me to proceed.  I felt the Lord calling me to minister to him, so the next day I ran into him and said “I don’t know what is wrong, but I know you are struggling if you ever need anything I am here” he looked at me with a look of shock, but said nothing.  The next day, I received a call from him saying “how did you know, I have not told anyone? I told him the Lord spoke to me with a word of knowledge.  He told me he had been struggling with the feeling that he had gone too far away from God and his sin was far too great for forgiveness.  He explained how he was being tormented night and day, but was too ashamed to tell anyone.  I was able to get him the help he needed and assure him that God was able to forgive every sin he had committed.  He was able to rededicate his life to the Lord and attend bible college. I later realized he had not been eating in weeks and had signed everything he owned over to me.  The reality was If I had not intervened the doctor said he may have ended his life.

He was totally amazed that God would speak to me about him. It turned out to be a great encouragement to us both.  We were later married.  I know without a doubt this WAS a divine appointment.  I was thankful that the Lord used me and I heard His call.

Maybe you’re anything like me—I’ve been nudged by the Holy Spirit, but I rationalize away my responsibility to say anything. I wonder if the reason we see so little of the supernatural occurring in our lives is because we are unwilling to take the risks that come with walking and living by faith. We fear the rejection of man more than displeasing God.

Be open to God!  We just have to be open to what God is doing today and every day.
Pray and ask God to lead you into divine appointments. Many say a prayer like this, “Holy Spirit whatever you are doing today, let me be a part of it, I want to glorify Jesus and advance the kingdom”.

Dear Heavenly Father, open my eyes to see the people whom I pass today who need a word of encouragement, a word of acknowledgment, or a word of thanks. Help me to slow down enough to see the needs standing right in front of me. Thank You for giving Jesus as our example of how to care for a hurting world.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.

Taste Thy Goodness

Untitled awtozer

Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897–1963) is widely regarded as one of the deepest theological thinkers of the 20th century. He is known worldwide for his prayer-bathed way of speaking pithy truth and introducing people to God. Tozer was a man of integrity. He lived simply, committed himself to lifelong learning, and drank deep from God’s Word. Tozer’s poignant writings typically lead people to worship and weep in conviction.

This is the opening sentence in Tozer’s  The Knowledge of the Holy. Is one of the most important, profound sentences that I have ever read. “What I believe about God is the most important thing about me.”  Tozer is telling us a great truth that everything we believe, everything we do, every sin with which we struggle, every attempt to understand who we are and what it means to be a Christian is rooted in our thoughts about God.

Here’s a beautiful prayer from AW Tozer’s book “Following Hard After God”.

O God, I have tasted Your goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want You; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Your glory, I pray, that so I may know You indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, ‘Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.’ Then give me grace to rise and follow You up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.
 In Jesus name.
 Amen

May this be our prayer daily!  May we yearn and drink deeply from God’s word.  Thank you, Jesus

The Love Of Jesus Is Deep

Untitled love Jesus

…that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ that passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.—Ephesians 3:17-19

Love Can…

Love can surely rescue
A heart in deep despair,
A heart that has given up
And no longer feels God near

Love can breathe new meaning
When there’s nothing left inside,
When there’s no feeling or emotion
Just dryness in our lives

Love can restore new hope
After it’s withered and died,
For hope is what will get us through
And love can be its guide

Love can run and embrace
The prodigal returning home
And the one that has come to the end,
Those hurting lost and alone

For God’s love is the answer
To our broken, empty lives,
As we come with an open heart,
He can dispel all the hurt inside

And He will heal our brokenness
And lovingly, He will bind
The wounds that have left us scarred
And bring soundness to our minds

So give it over to God’s love,
Our lives, and all that we are
Then we will know and walk in His love,
For His love shall dwell in our hearts.

Woman After God’s Own Heart

Untitled women after my heart

“God-confidence comes as the Holy Spirit works in us. As we pray and when we make choices that honor God, the Holy Spirit fills us with His power for ministry. When we are filled with God’s goodness, we are confidently and effectively able to share His love and joy. As women of prayer open to the transforming touch of the Holy Spirit, we will find his divine life in us overflowing into the lives of others.”
― Elizabeth George

When a woman fears the Lord when her spiritual priorities are in place and she integrates God into every area of her life, she discovers within herself a strength, joy, and peace that will never run dry.  When a woman is connected to Christ, he renews her strength and her spirit day by day.

Lord, Make me a woman after your own heart.  Clothe me with your strength and wisdom.  May I be full of your love and compassion.  In all I do, let it bring Glory and Honor to you, Lord.  Amen

Real and Lasting Beauty

Beauty

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 1Peter 3:4

This is a wonderful and comforting verse for women of any age.  Looking back on my life, this is something I wish I would have fully understood when I was young.  I love what Peter is saying here, Your beauty should not come from outward adornment.  This is not to say we shouldn’t be beautiful, but he’s saying we need to redefine our idea of what being beautiful is!

A women’s heart that is resting fully in the faithfulness of God is gentle and quiet; it is not stirred up with worry and anxiety.

This is something we cannot do on our own! We cannot even begin to develop a “gentle and quiet spirit” without totally surrendering our will to Jesus Christ and certainly not without the help of His Word. (Romans 12:1-2)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Rom 12 1-2

We also need the help of the indwelling Holy Spirit. He is the One who reveals the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. (Galatians 5:22-23) That fruit will become much more evident if we feed it with God’s Word, prayer, and a lot of self-discipline.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. Galatians 5 22-23

Ladies, this is a beauty that cannot fade away. It’s a beauty that you don’t have to go through all kinds of cosmetic surgery or makeup routines to preserve. It’s something that gets sweeter and richer and more beautiful as you age.

I don’t know about you, but I want that kind of beauty?   A beauty that comes from God who is the giver of fruitfulness. Left to ourselves, we will never have the fruit of gentleness. That’s why we need to draw upon His sufficiency. He’s the giver of fruitfulness. He’s the one who produces the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

You see, physical charm, physical beauty those things are all an illusion. They’re fleeting. They’re momentary. They can lure, but they won’t last. The thing that lasts is a relationship with God. That’s got to be the number one focus and priority of our life if we are going to be the women that God made us to be.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to so trust You that we rest completely in Your goodness, grace, and guidance. Help us adorn ourselves with a “gentle and quiet spirit” so we can be precious in Your sight in all areas of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Will you choose to please God today by maintaining that “gentle and quiet spirit.?”

She Is Strong In Faith

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” Ruth 1:16

One of my favorite stories in the bible is the story of Ruth.

When we are introduced to Ruth, we meet a woman who is in mourning the loss of her husband, the love of her life. Ruth is enduring enormous suffering, but she still chooses to serve others despite her own grief and pain. Ruth chooses to trust in God’s plan and rely on Him no matter what the circumstances.

I don’t know about you, but my desire is to be a woman who chases after God’s heart and continues to seek Him no matter what my circumstance or how hard the situation I am facing becomes.
Through Ruth’s obedience to God, she created a life full of abundant love and blessings for her and her family. Ruth remained faithful to God and He blessed her.

He blessed her with a beautiful love story. A love story between Ruth and Boaz. God believes in second chances. If we remain faithful He always restores better than before. Just like Ruth, God can turn your heartache and loss into your greatest love story to ever unfold. God blessed Ruth with a love better than she could have ever imagined, and her legacy of love continued through the lineage of Jesus and beyond!

What a wonderful example for women today to follow!

So the challenge for you now is to read the book of Ruth, you will be blessed!.

“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promise to her!” ~Luke 1:45

Love The Lord With All Your Heart

6a00d8341c5bb353ef0147e040a0ba970b

Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

God created us with a heart so that we would love Him wholly and absolutely. Today, however, our hearts love many things besides God.  The good news is that we can change that at any moment! We can turn our hearts to the Lord Jesus by praying to Him and spending time in His Word. These simple practices can restore our fellowship with the Lord and rekindle our love for Him. We don’t have to remain passive toward God. We can turn our hearts to Him at any time. He will revive us and bring us back to Himself as our first love.

The love in our hearts is determined by wherever we find valuable and is our greatest treasure.

Matt 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.”

In order for us to love Jesus completely, we have to treasure Him above ALL else. Our affections are the outcome of what we treasure. When we truly encounter the Lord in His glory and worth, loving Him with all our hearts will be the end result.

For the Apostle Paul, Jesus was THE treasure of his life. The loss of everything else was nothing compared to gaining Christ.

Phil 3:8 “What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”

Eph 3:8 “…this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ”

We have to diligently decide to pursue Him. To get to know Him and His character. Pray to the Lord: “Jesus, I long for You to be my ultimate treasure.”  Spend time with Him.  He delights in you. He wants to be with you and reveal Himself to you. He enjoys you! Set time aside to be with Him only.  If you do this daily, you will see your heart begin to love Him more and more.

Jeremiah 29:13 say’s You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

1Chronicles 16:11 says Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

Isaiah 55:6-7  “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Psalm 119:10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

Psalm 34:10 The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Trust In The Lord

light-green-prayer

Trust in the LORD and do good. Dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness. Psalm 37:3

I trust You, Lord. I trust Your plan. I trust Your goodness. I trust what You can see and I can’t.  I trust You with my life, my hopes, my dreams, and my disappointments.  I trust You with it all, Lord.

We are to trust God in all situations and circumstances, no matter how large or small. It is through faith in The Lord and submission to The Holy Spirit that we can feed on His Word and rest in His love for us.

He is a Faithful God and His Faithfulness is new every morning. He will feed us like a shepherd feeds his sheep, guiding us through all the valleys of life. Great is His faithfulness.

Trusting in the LORD and doing good to others. When we live by these two commitments, we learn to depend upon God in fresh new ways that bring us refreshment, hope, and new joy.
