“I will praise thee, O Lord with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in thee:  I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High,” (Psalm 9:1-2)

David tells us in these verses that he will praise God with his whole heart.  He’s giving God everything he has as a part of his praise.  He’s not withholding anything from God.  Unfortunately, many of us hold out on God sometimes because of fear (perhaps the fear of what people will say or think).   We have to move beyond that fear and praise God aloud and with purpose.

Our praise includes telling people about God’s marvelous works.  Praise God by telling someone your testimony.  Let’s open our mouths and tell the world of all he has done.  Let’s sing praises to God and to His name.  Even if we’re not the best singers in the world, we can still sing praises to His name.

As you go about your day today, remember God’s marvelous works.  Think about all the times He’s delivered you from trouble.  Think about all the blessings He has given you.  Think about the favor, grace, and mercy He has shown you.  When you do these things, I’m sure you’ll begin to open your mouth and sing about His marvelous works.

Loving Father, thank You that in Christ I know Your name, Your character and Your amazing grace, which is poured out in such abundance on all who trust in the Lord Jesus as Savior. I pray that my heart may seek You more and more with each passing day and I ask that You would increase in me a deeper longing to know You more and to love You better, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

What Does The Lord Require

Blank Facebook Post (16)

Have you ever found yourself pleading with God to show you what to do? How to please and serve Him…but not knowing how?

Well, here is a good place to start: Micah 6:8, we need to handle those around us justly — practicing patience and dealing with others in fairness, without partiality. We need to practice mercy — blessing others in need with what they don’t deserve but so greatly need. We need to walk humbly with our God.

It’s interesting to note that although there is action involved, each of those requirements starts with a soft and loving heart. We won’t act justly if we harbor resentment or hate. We won’t show kindness and mercy if we seek to serve ourselves. And a prideful heart will always walk ahead of God.  Finding God’s will for your life is really pretty simple. He wants all of your heart. He wants a surrendered life.

Maybe all God is asking of us is to stand for what is right … to choose kindness … and to walk closely to Him, submitting our will daily.

As for me, I want to embrace all that God has for me, and that means obeying what He’s already shown me.

I hope God’s Word encourages you today. Maybe it really is this simple. Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God. Now, the choice is yours.

Father, please make of me what you will. As you fashion me, please bless me as I seek to be a person of justice, mercy, and humility. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Casting Your Cares On Him

Blank Facebook Post (4)

The psalmist wrote, “Be still, and know that I am God” (46:10).  Paul exhorted the Philippians to “be anxious for nothing” (Phil 4:6). And Peter instructed his readers to cast all their cares on God (1 Peter 5:7).

I confess that for too long I have tried to work out my own problems and carry my own cares in my own self-strength, but I thank You Father-God that You care so much for me that I can cast all the burdens and hurts and disappointments and worries that seem to be flooding my life today, upon You – in the sure knowledge that you have promised to carry them. I admit I am weak, but I praise You that I can draw on Your amazing strength today and in the days that lie ahead, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Things Above

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3

If you’re a Christian, your identity is not in this world. It is found in Christ. You belong to him.

Have you ever asked yourself what occupies your thoughts? That’s a challenging question and one we should not ignore. We are what we think. If our thoughts are focused on the concerns of this world, we will become like the world. But if our minds are set on the things above—in other words, where Christ is—we’ll become more like Him.

When we think on Christ and meditate on his word we find that the things of the world will lose it’s appeal. The more aware we are of Jesus, the less we tolerate sin, because we know it doesn’t fit us anymore. Instead of chasing the passing pleasures and goals of the world, we’ll pursue a lifestyle of obedience to the Lord.  Even when everything looks dismal, we have a reason to hope because our time here is so small compared to eternity with Christ.

Your beliefs determine your perspective on life, and that shapes your priorities and attitudes.

Always check your heart and make sure you pursue the mind of Christ in every area of your life.

Gracious Lord, we surrender afresh to You and Your Lordship over all areas of our life. Give us Your heart and mind today as we choose to walk with You.

When we trust in the Lord and become a child of God, there is nothing we cannot do to make Him love us more; there is nothing we can do to make Him love us less. He will love us as much tomorrow as He does today. His love endures forever.

Thank You, Father, for Your enduring love. Thank You that Your love is not based on my performance but is a perfect, unconditional, lasting love that is mine through Jesus. In His name I pray. Amen.

Joy Comes In The Morning

joy comes

Have you experienced extreme sorrow? There is the promise of future joy amid your tears as you lean upon our loving Lord.

This verse has always been special to me, even as a small child I held out hope for the morning.  For me night was when my step father would come into my room and do horrible things that no child should ever have to endure.  So, this verse has always been my hope and assurance that a future joy amid my tears is promised.

I think we all need a reminder of who our God is and what He can do in times of hurt, pain and despair..We must know without a doubt that when our days of suffering and pains seems endless, God is there. God is Faithful and He will fulfill His promises.

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3 22-23

He knows what it’s like. He knows what it’s like to feel despised and rejected. He knows what it means to not have a single friend in the world. He knows what is hurting your heart right now.

And He cares.  He loves you.

You see, this thing that is happening to you is not what God desires for you. It’s not His will for you to mourn or grieve or be sad. It’s not His will for you to hurt, physically, emotionally, or mentally. He loves you, and He’s a good Father. He desires only the best for you in all things.

But we live in a fallen, sinful world. We live with imperfect circumstances and imperfect people all around us, who are also hurting. And sometimes that makes us hurt worse.

Be encouraged, keep the faith, keep believing, keep trusting, keep praying, keep witnessing, even in the midst of suffering and watch God!!! He will never fail you!!! JOY WILL COME IN THE MORNING!!!!

Scriptures for encouragement

Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Following After God

Here is a beautiful prayer I pray daily, it was written by AW Tozer from his book “Following Hard After God”.

O God, I have tasted Your goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want You; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Your glory, I pray, that so I may know You indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, ‘Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.’ Then give me grace to rise and follow You up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.
 In Jesus name.
 Amen

May this be our prayer daily!  May we yearn and drink deeply from God’s word.

In the opening sentence of Tozer’s  The Knowledge of the Holy. Is found one of the most important, profound sentences that I have ever read. “What I believe about God is the most important thing about me.”  Tozer is telling us a great truth that everything we believe, everything we do, every sin with which we struggle, every attempt to understand who we are and what it means to be a Christian is rooted in our thoughts about God.

Your view of God affects everything you think, feel and do. Think about it, it affects your prayer life and is the key influencer of all of your thoughts and actions.  Once I was able to truly understand who God was (his character etc.), my heart changed, I began to have a deeper walk with Him, able to trust more and in turn began to change my heart.

What about you? Are the things you think about God true to who He is? Don’t answer too quickly.   We MUST remember this, whatever you know about God is so minute compared to what there is to know about Him; He is INFINITE. We need to continually seek Him each and every day!  Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a new and deeper way. Never be satisfied with your walk with Him, continue growing in the Grace and Knowledge of Him.

What do you think about God?  Food for thought.

I want to encourage you TODAY to seek Him out in a new way and allow Him to change the most important thing about you.  Amen
