Your Love, O Lord, Reaches to the Heavens

Thank you God for your love that is beyond my ability to really understand. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be yours and to have the promise of eternal life with you when I leave this earth. Make your love so real in my heart that I will love others as you love me. Help me open my heart to your Spirit so he can mold me to be more like you every day. Use me to help others be strong as they seek to overcome sin and live for you. Empower each of us to win each battle against evil every day as we put you first in all things. I pray in the name of Jesus.

We Need The Word Of God

But the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 1 Peter 1:25

From Genesis to Revelations, we are presented with God’s gracious, redemptive program for fallen man, as told to us in the Bible – Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture.. that He was buried and rose again according to the Word of Truth.. so that whosoever believes on Him would not perish and pass away, but would receive the forgiveness of sins, and life everlasting. The Word of Life also contains all we need to live a life that glorifies His name – for we have been given all we need for life and godliness.

I have been changed and I’ve seen others changed after studying His Word. The Word of the Lord is pure, perfect and cannot be broken. God’s Word stands fast forever and ever. God’s Word is life giving and life changing. It has the power to impart faith, increase courage and develop character. When we face Goliath with reliance on the Word of God, we are no longer trusting in our own resources but we are trusting in the supernatural resources of God.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been called and chosen, and that I have been born again into Your family. Thank You that I have an inheritance in Christ that cannot fade away. Open the eyes of those that are blinded to the truth of Your Word, so that many may come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. Use me, I pray, as a witness to Your Word of truth and bring many more sons to glory, in the days that lie ahead – this I pray in Jesus name, AMEN.

Only Jesus

I absolutely love this song by Casting Crowns, it has become my go to worship/quiet time song.  I am finding myself falling more and more in Love with Jesus everyday, every hour.

Like the song says Jesus is all we need.

Only Jesus can satisfy your soul.  Only Jesus will never leave or forsake you.  Only Jesus can heal a broken heart. Only Jesus can give you the strength to go on. Only Jesus can save your soul.

For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. (Psalm 107:9)

In all we do, In all we say may it be a representation of Jesus.  May our lives be a reflection of Him.  We may be the Only Jesus people ever see.

“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17

The older I get the more I realize that after I am gone, if my friends can look back on my life and see Jesus and His love in the way I lived, then that’s all that matters.

That is our greatest and most important accomplishment, to be able to see the people around you discover Jesus. Our lives are not our own because Jesus bought them when He died on the cross in our place.

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.  Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.  He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”  Ephesians 5:1-2

I wonder what our lives would be like if we always carried with us in our hearts and in our minds and in our walk the truth that “Jesus is all I need?” I think we would be more gracious, more giving. I think we would hold on to the things in this life more loosely. Our treasures would be more spiritual than physical. We would work differently, We would relate to people more patiently, more lovingly. And we would approach our enemies in a whole new light, love them more than hate them, care for them more than wanting to harm them, we would be softer and not harsh. What about you?

Lord Jesus, Lamb of God, in adoration I thank You for the love that made You willing to suffer and die on the cross for my sin. Beautiful Lord, I was created in your image, fearfully and wonderfully made to be the light in this dark world.  Please guide me in a  path of righteousness according to Your will and glory. You are the Potter and I am the clay.  Shape me, mold me, use me and fill me each and everyday to become more like Christ.

We Can Depend On You

I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1–3

David is waking from a really bad period in his life and so he thanks God. He wrote it “when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.” So David is thanking God for delivering him from trouble. The Psalms are like his prayer journal. He sang and prayed this Psalm as a reminder of the ways the Lord had delivered him, and so can we. As we look at how David prayed in this Psalm, we see he prays three ways. He prays in desperation, in darkness, and in deliverance.

The great thing about the book of Psalms is we can learn how to guide our prayers. In other words, I can read a Psalm and pray what the Lord is saying to me through it.

These verses point to the fact that we can depend on God. When you are in distress and have nowhere to hide, let us seek refuse in The Lord and depend on His almighty arms. When we are facing hardship, we think really hard and try all possible ways to solve our problems, but we forget the most important thing, which is We can depend on the Lord!

Prayer: Lord, help me build my life on your foundation. Shield me this day from those who would oppress me. Hide me in the shadows of your wings. I love you Lord with all my heart!

Lord I Need You

Jesus, I need you!

I heard this song on the radio this morning and it spoke to me in such a sweet way and I found myself in tears.

This song is a cry to God. When we have nothing left in ourselves, when we are not sure where we are going, when we are lost and don’t know which way out, this is a song we can sing to Him.

I utterly need Jesus in my life, in all circumstances, in every moment. I need Him to be goodness in me. I need Him to be my righteousness. Without Him, I am incapable of either.

My heart, my salvation, was bought at such a huge price. It cost my Savior His life. My sins, placed on His shoulders, became His burden. Through His death and resurrection, I am forgiven. It’s only by His grace that I no longer have to experience spiritual death. And not just me, but all who call upon His name and claim Christ as Savior.

You are my Lord, my God, my King. You are worthy of all of my worship. Help me, by your grace, to know you and love you so deeply and dearly that the things of this world fade away and grow strangely dim.

Lord Jesus, grant me your grace, your mercy, and your loving kindness to enable me to see you, know you, love you, and be one with you. Thank you that your Word tells me if we ask anything in your name and according to your will that you will do it. Amen.

“Lord I Need You” Lyrics

Verse 1:
Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Verse 2:
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Bridge:
Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

Chorus:
Lord I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

You’re my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

I Will Seek You In The Morning

Give ear to my words, O Lord;
consider my meditation.
Harken to the to the voice of my cry,
my King and my God,
for unto you do I pray.
O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayers;
Unto you I look up and wait with expectation. Psalm 5 1-3

How does your day begin?

The first thing David did each morning was to lift his voice to the Lord. His first words of the day were to God. He goes on, “In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” What a perfect way to begin the day!

Lift your voice to God in prayer. Lay your requests before Him. Set out before Him the things you are going to have to do that day. Commit to Him the problems, the difficulties you anticipate. Submit all your decisions to Him.

Morning prayer sets the tone for the day. If our morning begins with worry, that will only increase as the day moves along. But if we start out by enjoying time with God and receiving strength from God, we will more likely remain in his peace as the day continues. There’s no better way to begin the day than with prayer.

May we each bring our requests before Him often…waiting with expectation.

Loving Father, thank you for meeting me in this prayer time. I know that you hear me and care about what I share with you. Thank you for paying attention to someone like me and accepting me as your precious child. Thank you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

May People See Jesus In Me

We are called to live a life that points others in His direction.

I want to live my life as the best example I can be. In other words, I want to let them see Jesus in me.   I mess up, I make mistakes, but I will do my best to be a light for others to see in this dark world!

I will say that we may be the ONLY witness that some people will see so let’s show them a good representation.

I am reminded of the words of Colton Dixon’s song this morning and am praying them earnestly…
Let them see you, in me
let them hear you, when I speak
let them feel you, when I sing
let them see you,
just let them see you, in me

Dear Jesus,
Yes, Lord, yes! I want people to see You in me. I praise You Father for these words this morning. Lord, how we live on this earth will determine where we will live for eternity. Oh how I pray for more people to come into relationship with You. Father, fill me to overflowing so people will see You in me.

Kisses His Faith Goodbye

Josh Harris Kisses His Faith Goodbye

by Julieroys.com

In a stunning Instagram post today, Joshua Harris, the author who became famous for his 1997 book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, announced that he is no longer a Christian. “I have undergone a massive shift in regard to my faith in Jesus,” Harris wrote. “The popular phrase for this is ‘deconstruction,’ the biblical phrase is ‘falling away.’ By all the measurements that I have for defining a Christian, I am not a Christian.” Harris added that he is open to “a different way to practice faith,” but is “not there now.”

Harris also apologized in his post for “self-righteousness, my fear-based approach to life, the teaching of my books, my views of women in the Church, and my approach to parenting.” These he has apologized for before, but today, he announced he had another regret.

“I specifically want to add to this list now: to the LBGTQ+ community, I want to say that I am sorry for the views that I taught in my books and as a pastor regarding sexuality. I regret standing against marriage equality, for not affirming you and your place in the church, and for any ways that my writing and speaking contributed to a culture of exclusion and bigotry.”

Just last week, Harris announced that he and his wife of 21 years are separating. (Today he said he’s getting divorced.) “In recent years, some significant changes have taken place in both of us,” Harris wrote in an Instagram post last Friday. “It is with sincere love for one another and understanding of our unique story as a couple that we are moving forward with this decision. We hope to create a generous and supportive future for each other and for our three amazing children in the years ahead.”

In today’s post, Harris said that his “heart is full of gratitude” for the many messages people sent him after announcing his divorce. “This week I’ve received grace from Christians, atheists, evangelicals, exvangelicals, straight people, LGBTQ people, and everyone in-between,” he said. But he added that there “have also been strong words of rebuke from religious people. While not always pleasant, I know they are seeking to love me.”

In addition to writing a best-selling book, Harris also served as senior pastor at Covenant Life Church, a megachurch in Gaithersburg, Maryland, that was rocked by an alleged conspiracy to cover-up child sex abuse.

My heart breaks over this—for Harris, for his wife and kids, for his former church, and the many Christians who looked up to him. It’s just so very sad.

Below is Harris’ Instagram post:

As I posted at the top of the article, this was written by Julieroys.com.

I am personally so saddened by this new development. It is an incredibly sad thing to witness. I grieve for how casually he has thrown away the preciousness of the gospel. I homeschooled my children and met the Harris family and heard them speak at homeschool conventions several times. I read all their books. My heart breaks for his family, his marriage and most of all his falling away. I mourn for all the young people who looked up to him after reading his books and hearing him speak. I am going to pray for him, his wife, children, church and family.  My heart breaks for him and his family!

“I will praise thee, O Lord with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in thee:  I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High,” (Psalm 9:1-2)

David tells us in these verses that he will praise God with his whole heart.  He’s giving God everything he has as a part of his praise.  He’s not withholding anything from God.  Unfortunately, many of us hold out on God sometimes because of fear (perhaps the fear of what people will say or think).   We have to move beyond that fear and praise God aloud and with purpose.

Our praise includes telling people about God’s marvelous works.  Praise God by telling someone your testimony.  Let’s open our mouths and tell the world of all he has done.  Let’s sing praises to God and to His name.  Even if we’re not the best singers in the world, we can still sing praises to His name.

As you go about your day today, remember God’s marvelous works.  Think about all the times He’s delivered you from trouble.  Think about all the blessings He has given you.  Think about the favor, grace, and mercy He has shown you.  When you do these things, I’m sure you’ll begin to open your mouth and sing about His marvelous works.

Loving Father, thank You that in Christ I know Your name, Your character and Your amazing grace, which is poured out in such abundance on all who trust in the Lord Jesus as Savior. I pray that my heart may seek You more and more with each passing day and I ask that You would increase in me a deeper longing to know You more and to love You better, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
